Lands, gardens and alchemy

Buy a parcel, build on it, grow crops, brew potions and sell to passing citizens, by hand or with bots.

Beyond the fighting, you can own land, farm it, run an alchemy table and keep a market stall. Lands are part of the online world. Your land is managed from the Land tab of the Hero window (C), from anywhere: Overview, Garden, Alchemy, Market, Access & bans and Presenter.

Three kinds of land

LandWho has itHow you get itBuilt with
ParcelEvery hero, one eachBuy it at the Land Marketplace, from 5,000 silverYour hero's coins
Party groundEvery permanent partyFree with the partyThe party's standing
Guild groundEvery guildFree with the guildThe guild's standing

Lands lie beyond the Lands portal at the south-west corner of Embervale. Each land is its own place, linked to the others by coloured portals:

Joining a party or guild adds the portal and leaving removes it. Parties and guilds explains how a party becomes permanent and how guilds form. Your parcel always stays your hero's, with everything on it.

Anyone may visit any land, for example to shop at a stall. Owners, and on party and guild ground those who can Manage ground, can Ban players from the land. A guild's ban also keeps that player out of every member party's ground and every member's parcel, and a party's ban covers its members' parcels. Let back lifts a ban.

Buying a parcel

Each hero of an account may own one land. Lands are sold on the Lands tab of the Land Marketplace, from anywhere: open the Land tab of the Hero window and press Get a land. The hero you're playing pays.

Changing to another land

Owning one land, you can buy a different kind with Replace my land. It asks twice, because:

Building

What stands on a land is bought once at the Land Marketplace and then placed in land edit mode. While you stand on a land you may build on, two buttons sit by the minimap: the Land Marketplace and land edit mode.

  1. In the Land Marketplace, pick a tab (Biomes, Props, Decoration sets, Farming, Alchemy, Buildings) and press Buy. A prop or building comes with some placements included.
  2. Press Place now, or turn on land edit mode and pick it from the palette that takes the skill bar's place. Its outline follows the pointer.
  3. Click where it should stand (on a phone, tap, then Place). Placing more than the included ones costs a fee, asked before it goes up.

In land edit mode, click something placed to Move or Remove it. Done (or Esc) leaves edit mode. Who builds:

What is bought with standing belongs to the party or guild. Taking down others' buildings, bans and access, the ground's name, the Presenter and the bigger ground need Manage ground. See roles and permissions.

Decorations can stand on any land: Silo, Beehives, Hay Bale, Water Trough, Long Table and Round Table. On a parcel they cost from 20 silver (Hay Bale) to 150 silver (Silo); on shared ground, from 100 to 800 standing.

Those who can Manage ground can buy a Bigger ground for the party for 15,000 standing. Everyone on the ground moves onto the new map. When the guild lacks standing for a building, the founder party's standing pays.

Production (garden, alchemy, stall, bots) runs on your own parcel. Party and guild grounds help it by bringing more citizens and faster bots.

The garden

Build Garden Beds on your parcel, then open the Garden tab.

  1. Buy seeds from a general trader.
  2. Pick a seed under Seeds to plant, then press Plant on an empty bed.
  3. When the bed says ripe, press Harvest.

A Water Wheel makes every crop ripen 1.25 times as fast. Garlic, fennel and rhubarb are herbs that alchemy needs.

Alchemy

Build an Alchemy Table, then open the Alchemy tab.

  1. Buy the stations a recipe needs: Pulveriser (15 silver), Mixer (20 silver), Flask and Burner (12 silver), Condenser (25 silver), Furnace (60 silver).
  2. Press Choose on a recipe.
  3. Set how many batches and press Feed from the bag. The table holds up to 10 batches.
  4. When batches finish, press Collect by hand.

The Ember Elixir restores 400 health and 300 mana.

Every station starts as Glass. Upgrade it to Copper (40 silver) for 1.5 times the speed, then to Steam (120 silver) for 2.25 times. A recipe runs at the average speed of its stations. Upgrades wait until the table is idle.

The market stall

Build a Market Stall, then open the Market tab.

More citizens come when your land is linked: 15% more for your party ground and for each other member's parcel, 15% for the guild ground, and 50% more with a Guild Market. The tab shows your traffic.

Bots

Each bot does one step on its own, every 10 minutes, offline too. You buy each once for your parcel.

BotPriceWhat it does
Feeder Bot150 silverReplants empty beds and loads the alchemy table from the stock
Collector Bot150 silverHarvests ripe beds into the stock and carries finished batches to the stall
Seller Bot200 silverServes citizens at the stall while nobody is there

Bots work from the stock. Shift-click an item in your bag to put it in. The stock holds 60 items of all kinds together, or 600 with a Barn.

Working by hand pays more: harvesting and collecting by hand give 1.25 times as much, and serving citizens by hand fetches 1.25 times the price. With a Workers' Lodge on your party ground, your bots go round twice as often.

Bots keep working while you're offline (see While you're away). A parcel nobody visits is worked out when someone next looks, up to 3 days back.

A noble's commission

Once a day, a noble buys 10 Ember Elixirs, delivered by hand, for 1 gold coin. Every station of your alchemy table must be Copper or better. Press Deliver on the Market tab. This is the only way production earns gold coins (see Item shop and premium), and the whole game can pay out only a limited amount of them each day.
